The Great Illinois Genealogy Scavenger Hunt - Official Contest Rules
NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER THIS CONTEST
TERM: The Great Illinois Genealogy Scavenger Hunt (“Contest”) sponsored by the Illinois State Genealogical Society (“ISGS”) in conjunction will run from 12:00 am Wednesday, June 1, 2011 through 11:59 pm Thursday, June 30, 2011, Central Daylight Time (GST -6). Contestants will be required to submit content in the form of a) an original narrative article related to an Illinois genealogy topic complete with hyperlinks; or b) hyperlinks to an Illinois genealogy-related website along with a brief description of the hyperlinks and why they should be listed on the FamilySearch Wiki. All content will be submitted via Official Entry Form.
PRIZES: First Prize: (Awarded to one (1) winner based on the best original narrative article about an Illinois genealogy-related topic with hyperlinks submitted via the Official Entry Form) A full registration for RootsTech 2012 to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, February 2-4, 2012 (this does not include travel or hotel accommodations or any event tickets – just the registration fee). Value $150.00 US. Second Prize: (Awarded to one (1) winner based on the most original Illinois genealogy-related website hyperlink submitted) An individual membership for the Illinois State Genealogical Society. Valued at $30 US. Random Prizes: (Awarded to 30 winners selected at random) Various ISGS and FamilySearch “logo” items such as mouse pads, t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc. Valued from $3.00 US to $14.50 US per item.
ODDS OF WINNING: Odds of winning will be determined by the number of entries received. Some winners will be drawn at random while others will be selected based on the best entries (see PRIZES above).
ELIGIBILITY: You must be 18 years of age or older to enter the Contest; Contest is not open to individuals who reside outside of the United States, or employees of FamilySearch and no purchase is necessary to enter the Contest.
OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM: The Official Entry Form can be found at http://ilgensoc.org/cpage.php?pt=136 and all entries must be submitted via this online form. No other forms of transmitting content (via email, on paper, etc.) will be accepted for the Contest.
DISCLAIMER: ISGS is not responsible for errors, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects in part or whole, delays in operations or transmission, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials, or for any technical or non-technical network, telephonic, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate or partial transmission of or failure to receive entry information by ISGS on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, at any web site or any combination thereof. ISGS is not responsible for any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from playing or downloading any materials used in the Contest. The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. You are providing your information to ISGS and not to Facebook. The information you provide will only be used for selecting winners in the Contest and, where you have given your permission to use your email address, to communicate ISGS news.
DISQUALIFICATION: Entries will be disqualified if a) content submissions are not related to Illinois genealogy or, for narrative articles, are judged not to be original content or b) if adequate contact information is not provided by the submitter on the Official Entry Form.
SELECTION OF WINNERS: (1) Random Prize winners will be selected in an electronically randomized manner over the course of the Contest, June 1 – June 30, 2011 and notified via e-mail shortly thereafter, and will have three (3) business days to contact ISGS regarding their prize and make arrangements for delivery of such prize. Return of any prize or prize notification as “undeliverable” will result in disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected. (2) The First Prize and Second Prize winners will be select by a qualified panel of judges determined by ISGS. Winners of the First Prize and Second Prize will be announced on Thursday, September 7, 2011 at the Federation of Genealogical Societies Conference in Springfield, Illinois and notified via e-mail shortly thereafter, and will have until 11:59 pm Pacific Daylight Time on Monday, September 12, 2011 to contact ISGS regarding their prize and make arrangements for delivery of such prize. Return of any prize or prize notification as “undeliverable” will result in disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected.
NOTIFICATION: ISGS is under no obligation to notify winner by any means other than via the e-mail address provided with each Contest entry. Winners are required to contact ISGS via email at publicity@ilgensoc.org within three (3) business days of receiving such e-mail notification. ISGS is not responsible for notifications that are misdirected or not received because of e-mail addresses or mailing addresses that are no longer correct. If a potential winner cannot be reached after a reasonable effort has been made during three (3) business days from the first notification attempt, such person may be disqualified, with an alternate winner selected. Any prize notification or prize returned as undeliverable will result in the awarding of that prize to an alternate winner.
REDEMPTION: ISGS will deliver the prize as follows: Once a prize winner responds to the notification from ISGS, the prize will be mailed to the winner, at a postal rate to be chosen by the prize supplier.
CONDITIONS: By participating in the Contest, you agree to release and hold ISGS and all prize suppliers harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims, and actions of any kind in connection with the Contest or any product purchased, or resulting from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize, including, without limitation, personal injuries, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy, whether suffered by you or a third party. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of ISGS and waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest or these Contest Rules. All decisions regarding the Contest, including, but not limited to, selecting winners, will be made by ISGS, whose decisions shall be final. Winners are individually responsible for all applicable taxes.
