I have been trying to find the burial place for David Deer, b 1801 in Wales and died 1868 in Alton, Madison, Illinois or possibly  near where Godfrey is now.  He may have been working in a cousin's coal mine, Coal Branch.  Does anyone know of any resources to find deaths in mines?

Try visiting Tim Pinnick's website at http://www.blackcoalminerheritage.net/ - he is a member of ISGS and although it appears as if he focuses on African-American coal miners, he does work on all the miners in Illinois and locations nearby.
